Haushcka / Hildur Gudnadottir / Sonic Pieces

Pan Tone

Pan Tone is a musical collaboration between Haushcka (Volker Bertelmann) an experimental German pianist and Hildur Gudnadottir an Icelandic cellist, originally recorded at Kings Place, London.

Each composition on the album is named after a different Pantone colour, each relates to a different colour of the sea, and the image I produced for the inlay of the EP was printed using three of these.

The illustration was inspired by the Leviathan sea monster myth, specifically a passage from the Hebrew Bible describing the monster:

"I will not fail to speak of his limbs, his strength and his graceful form."

There is a limited number of the EP and CDs, each embossed, numbered and hand bound, released with Berlin-based record label, Sonic Pieces, September 2011
